Standard 1: Content Knowledge
An effective teacher can demonstrate a rich, thorough understanding of the content and skill knowledge, theories, and issues comprising their discipline.
I love math. In 2007 I graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in Mathematics. During my time at Ithaca, as an undergraduate, I took many upper level courses where I learned the math behind the math, so to speak.
My extensive background has become an asset for me in the classroom where I am able to easily review topics that I may not have seen for some time. Because of my background I am able to better anticipate common misconceptions and prevent them in my own students. Most importantly, my passion gives me the desire to share all the intricacies of my content with my students.
