Proof of Teaching Effectiveness
Diversity

Standard 4: Diversity

An effective teacher understands and celebrates the unique nature, abilities, cultures and characteristics of all learners, including literacy and second language acquisition, and are able to modify instruction so that every student can be successful.

There is no such thing as one size fits all in education. No two students have exactly the same abilities or exactly the same needs. For that reason, it is important for me to be flexible and familiar with multiple ways to explain or demonstrate each concept I teach in my classroom.

By diversifying my own teaching strategies, I work towards equity, where each student is given the tools they need in order to succeed. In addition, I also give my students the valuable gift of being able to learn in multiple ways, which strengthens each of them.

Students in my class must be able to do more than ace their own test. Here, a group of students reviews a topic for the class in preparation for their final exam. This group presentation required that student use their unique talents to create a cohesive whole. To see more about this project, click here.
