Regina Spektor

Regina Spektor was born and raised in Moscow until she was nine years old. there, she listened to tapes of Western pop and began rocking out as a young child. When her family moved to the Bronx, she was immersed in American culture and used both her influences from Russia and her experiences to build her music career.

She attended SUNY Purchase Music Conservatory and debuted her first self-released album in 2001. She frequently performed anywhere she could in New York City and was introduced to the Strokes' producer, Gordon Raphael, in 2002. Her third album, Soviet Kitsch, was released by Sire Records. She also began tours with the Strokes, Kings of Leon, and Moldy Peaches.

Regina hit the large music scene with her release of Begin to Hope and has been gaining press ever since. The material on this site is from the album Begin to Hope.
